Stabilization heat treatment is a critical process in the manufacturing of 321 stainless steel tubes. This process involves holding the material at a medium temperature range of 850–900°C, allowing carbon in the steel to preferentially combine with stabilized titanium (Ti) to form stable carbides. This process effectively prevents chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundaries, thereby eliminating the risk of chromium depletion at grain interfaces. This process enhances the material's resistance to inter-granular corrosion. Unlike conventional solution treatment, stabilization heat treatment actively forms stable carbides through air cooling at moderate temperatures. This significantly improves the long-term corrosion resistance of the tubing in both welded conditions and high-temperature environments.
