Improve the performance and reliability of industrial pipeline systems
How to scientifically select nickel-based alloys and superalloys? Understand the application environment, processing performance and cost factors to help the petroleum, chemical, energy and other industries build high-reliability industrial pipeline systems.
Under harsh working conditions such as petroleum, natural gas, chemical industry, and energy, nickel-based alloys (Nickel Alloy) and superalloys (Superalloy) have become important materials for industrial pipeline systems due to their excellent corrosion resistance, high temperature strength and long-term stability. Scientific material selection is an important part of ensuring system reliability and economy.
1. Clarify the use environment and working conditions
The application environment is the primary basis for material selection. If the pipeline needs to withstand high temperature (>600℃) for a long time, such as heat exchangers and gas turbine components, it is recommended to use Inconel 625 and 718, which have excellent high temperature creep resistance and oxidation resistance. If the pipeline needs to deal with highly corrosive media (such as acidic gases, seawater, chlorides), Hastelloy C276 and Alloy 400 are recommended, which have excellent corrosion resistance and are widely used in chemical and marine engineering.
2. Consider both processing performance and weldability
Pipeline systems often involve complex structures, and nickel-based alloys need to have good processing and weldability. Some high-strength alloys are prone to thermal cracking during welding. When selecting materials, the material supply status (plates, pipes, forgings) and welding matching processes should be comprehensively evaluated to ensure construction quality and long-term sealing reliability.
3. Evaluate costs and project cycles
Nickel-based and super alloys are expensive. It is recommended to select materials reasonably according to the actual project life cycle and maintenance cycle. For example, Duplex Stainless Steel or low-nickel alloys with better cost performance can be selected for non-continuous high-temperature working scenarios to optimize the return on investment.
MTSCO has long focused on austenitic, duplex steel, and nickel-based alloy pipeline system products, covering pipe fittings, flanges, control pipelines, etc. With global selected raw materials, advanced process control, and strict quality inspection, the company provides high-reliability solutions for customers in the fields of petroleum, chemical, energy, etc., to help key systems operate safely, stably, and for a long time.
